|Don’t Let Your New Kindle Go Naked,
Walking around with an uncased Kindle is a little bit like going to a wedding in jeans and a t-shirt. It’s not illegal but who does it? You need something to protect your Kindle and maximize its functionality.
I purchased the black version of this rooCase to go with my new Kindle Fire because I noticed that it was much less expensive than the Marware case that Amazon had been promoting. I cannot comment on the color but everything else seems similar based on the product description. My case is not perfect but for the price I feel it is a good deal. It offers everything I could want: functionality, protection for my Kindle and a good price.
Quality: The quality is pretty good. The leather does not appear to be quite as good as the leather that is on my lighted Kindle cover for my Kindle keyboard. But it is still respectable and does not look cheap.
Functionality: Here is where this case really shines. Most of the other cases can only stand the Kindle fire horizontally. The rooCase can stand it horizontally and vertically. Both seem to work reasonably well. The multiangle grooves allow you to position the Kindle fire at a variety of different angles. This is an area where the rooCase would appear to be superior to the Marware case, which does not have any grooves to hold the kindle up and relies on friction according to reviews on Amazon. The makers of this product seemed to think of everything including leaving a small whole in the top left corner so that the case doesn’t block the Kindle’s ambient light sensor. The case is not perfectly stable but for reading watching movies and light internet work it holds pretty well. It is slightly uncomfortable to do more extensive internet work like sending a long e-mail but that is also related to the Kindle itself.
Protection: The rooCase should provide pretty good protection. It is not as thick as some of the other cases but there is a decent amount of cushioning and the cover appears reasonably solid.
Weight: At 6.6 ounces it is neither exceptionally heavy nor exceptionally lightweight. The Kidle Fire is a tad heavier than the other kindles. But still, if this combination is dragging you down, you need to spend more time in the gym.
You may also notice that the case is shipped from PC Micro Store. If you call them or the company directly as I did, you might not have to wait the extra days for processing.

|Perfect Case for a New Kindle Fire,
This leather case, consisting of a holder with a removable cover that doubles as a display stand, is perfect for my new Kindle Fire. The Kindle Fire slides easily into the holder, and is firmly secured by a leather tab with a Velcro fastener. The nobbly texture on the cover itself is attractive: it resembles the textured part of my Kindle Keyboard Lighted Leather Cover, Steel Blue.
The RooCase cover is unlined, and is thinner and lighter in weight than the KKLLC. However, the RooCase (with the holder and cover together) feels solid, and should provide adequate protection for any Kindle Fire in ordinary use. The RooCase does not feel flimsy and cheap like the Kindle Fire MicroShell Folio Cover by Marware, White that I originally purchased. The RooCase fully protects the touchscreen from scratches, even though the cover has no elastic band or tab to hold it closed. There is a weak magnetic closure–the cover should be carefully closed when the Kindle Fire is travelling in a pocket, bag, or backpack.
The RooCase cover is removable, and doubles as the Kindle Fire display stand. The stand supports the Kindle Fire at two different viewing angles, either horizontally or vertically. For the horizontal display, the cover remains in its normal position (the position with the cover able to close like a book to protect the touchscreen). For the vertical display, the cover is removed from the holder, and reattached with its strong Velcro fastener to support the Kindle Fire in a vertical position. In either position, the stand provides good, solid support, at least when placed on a level surface like a desktop.
My only reservation about this case is whether the Velcro fastener that attaches the cover/display stand to the holder will wear out over time, if the cover is frequently removed. It’s too early to tell, and for now at least, I rate this well-made, well-designed case at 5 stars.
