Works well – better configuration than I planned for,
Bought an old Dell Dimensions 2400 on the cheap when my school’s IT person upgraded several PCs. Hard to justify spending $60-$80 on a RAM upgrade for a computer that was bought for only $40. So, I was pleased to see this inexpensive option to bring the ancient Dimensions PC from 512 MB to 2 GB of RAM. When I installed both 1GB chips into the RAM slots (for 2GB total), I ended up with memory dump crashes when my computer performed heavier tasks (Blue Screen of Death in XP32). At first I thought I had made a mistake purchasing the less expensive memory … should I have paid more by going to a retail store, or to a more expensive online option like Crucial where it is often easier to speak with a technician?
My inquiry to the vendor (Blazing Trades/Calvin & Hobbs) was answered immediately, with offers for an exchange or full refund. The response also suggested a few things I might try to determine if it was just one bad RAM chip. Turns out the memory was in fine working condition – my Dell Dimensions 2400 just did not want to work with 2GB installed. The Dell is my back up computer in any event, and it now runs along much more quickly than before using 1.25 GB of memory (one 1 GB new memory stick, plus one of the old 256 MB memory sticks that had come with the computer). While my Dimensions 2400 needs only 333 Mhz rated memory, the RAM purchased from Blazing Trades is rated at 400 Mhz. I ended up trying the second 1GB chip in my other PC (an HP Pavilion A1210n) – and because the memory has a high enough speed rating, it works in HP computer! So now my primary PC has gotten an upgrade as well.
It took a bit of my time over the weekend to test the memory in various configurations on the Dimensions, but in the end I saved $30-$40 over what I would have paid if I purchased the more expensive vendors on Amazon… plus I saved another $30-$40 over what I would have paid in the near future to buy another memory upgrade for my HP computer. Sometimes the effort it takes to troubleshoot does not seem worth what a less expensive option brings… but with RAM purchases, you often end up with a few headaches no matter from where the purchase is made! For me, this purchase was worth the extra time and effort I put in. The vendor must have exchanged 4 or 5 emails with me – and that was reassuring – that whether I returned everything, exchanged just one of the two chips, etc…. the vendor stood by their moto: “I am not satisfied with this transaction until you are.”
So anyway – this vendor is one of the really good ones. You can count on them from my experience.

|Saved my 3 dying Dell Dimensions!,
Listen. I have 3 Dell Dimension desktop computers and they were all on their way out. They had everything from redirect viruses to extremely slow everything. Bottom line I wiped them clean and installed windows 7 on them. The catch is you need at least 512mb of ram for it to work. These guys were running on a mere 256mb. It works OK with the 512mb of ram but once i ordered and installed these 1gigs….WOW. Its like night and day. Now im not saying that I now have a super computer but for what they’re being used for, browsing the internet and some word documents here and there, its perfect. Hey, its better than shelling out for a whole new computer.

|Works Great with a Dell 2400,
Bumped my grandmother’s PC from 128MB to this 1GB stick.. it’s like a whole new computer!
She kept telling me I spent too much to get her PC to run that fast; she wouldn’t believe I only spent $21 to make her computer run better than when she got it several years ago.
